THE DESCRIPTION
We are looking for a Senior Financial Analyst to join our accounting organization and become a major contributor to our accounting team. As a key member of the UK and global accounting team, this person will be based in London. A successful candidate for this position will have demonstrable experience in financial reporting and internal control related responsibilities.
The role is responsible for the controlling and accounting function in support of UK operations. Accounting flows are operated in multiple legal entities with the involvement of a number of stakeholders in different locations.
In addition to accounting and reporting responsibilities, the person will drive cross-border projects and develop process and control best practices internationally. They will also drive policy implementation with the finance leadership team based at Amazon locations around the world.
Candidates for this position will have held supervisory or management positions in companies with annual revenue of less than $1 billion, worked for a large accounting firm at the executive level with Fortune clients 500 or equivalent, or will have worked in a mainstream company as a manager. Candidates will have to demonstrate that they were the best performers at their level.
Scope/Key Responsibilities:
Supporting the global accounting function, this position includes a mix of operational responsibilities and new project-based corporate accounting responsibilities, including but not limited to:
Ø Represent the accounting team
Ø Preparation of various deliverables to meet internal and external financial reporting needs, including analytical commentary and preparation of additional financial analysis for management and other stakeholders.
Ø Lead reviews of financial statements
Ø Preparation and review of monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts.
Ø Direct responsibility for the improvement of accounting processes and controls for a company with a high volume of transactions.
Ø Lead selected month-end close activities, ensure relevant deadlines are met and seek ways to continually improve this process.
Ø Actively participate in cross-functional project launches, from scoping to testing and launch.
Ø Responsibility to actively engage with a variety of stakeholders within the business, including technology and administrative team on business integration projects.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Ø BA/BS required
Ø ACCA, ACA and CIMA or similar credentials
Ø Relevant accounting experience (public/mixed industrial accounting preferred)
Ø Exposure to operational accounting concepts of inventory, supply, payables, receivables and revenue
Ø Demonstrated ability to participate in milestone-driven projects
Ø A strong desire to exceed expectations
Ø Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
Ø Strong organizational, project management and information technology skills
Ideal candidates will be experienced and talented finance or accounting professionals who are passionate and passionate about accounting and reporting and have experience with the details of a monthly close cycle, periodic financial reporting and related analytical analyses.
